That is why they are much loved, keeping everyone they know, young and alive. Living proof, at seventy years old, is Tony Stockwell the new owner of Frasers Radio Control Models hobby shop in Moreleta Park. “It happened so swiftly,” he says.

The Fraser family have looked after hobbyists in Pretoria and countrywide for fifty years. At the time that the building owners in Garstfontein ejected their tenants, of which Frasers was one, to revamp the Eastdale Pavilion, Allen Fraser decided to relocate closer to family and a new job in the Cape. The challenge was to find the perfect candidate to carry on the tradition. A serendipitous series of events followed. “There are times when you cannot ignore the call to action” Tony remembers.

Tony Stockwell, chairman of Pretoria Radio Flyers, who directed the Guinness record in 2003 when 44 aircraft flew together above their airfield in Rietvallei, stepped up to carry the flag into battle.
